Just weeks after returning to the U.K. following two months of helicopter-pilot training with U.S. troops, Prince Harry has announced that he will once again be deployed to Afghanistan.

The redheaded royal broke the news while attending a military awards event on Monday with brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

So just how soon will he be heading there?

According to the Sun, it will most likely be some time next year.

"I can't wait to get out there," Harry is quoted as saying, adding that he's looking forward to putting his most recent training "into practice."

The 27-year-old's eventual service in Afghanistan will mark his second tour of duty there. He previously served 10 weeks in the country in 2007-08, where he worked as a forward air controller and directed bomber jets targeting the Taliban.

However, Harry was soon forced to return home early after news of his top-secret service broke in the media. His commanders feared that once his presence was made public, he and his fellow soldiers would be in greater jeopardy.

The Ministry of Defense has yet to comment on Harry's potential deployment.
