Whitney Houston may have had her dark times, but that's not how Taylor Swift will remember her.

In fact, Houston was more than just music to the "Mean" singer.

"I was a huge fan of Whitney," Swift told us at the Universal CityWalk premiere of her new movie, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, which opens March 2. "And I was also a fan of her spirit. She was always smiling and I just always felt like she was relatable."

No surprise, she's also a big fan of Dr. Seuss. "When I was growing up, I'm pretty sure that was my first exposure to poetry," Swift said. "And I just loved it."

And if you think Swift is crying over not being cast in the movie adaptation of the Les Misérables musical, she's certainly not!

"Things sometimes don't happen and it happens all the time, that things don't come together," she said. "But the thing about my life is that everybody seems to know all these different versions of stories that may or may not be true."

Les Mis or not, Swift is doing pretty well in the movie department. Her Lorax costars include stars like Zac Efron and Betty White.

Can't wait to see what's next for ya, Taylor!
