Shailene Woodley opted for bare feet.
But it had nothing to do with the oceanside setting. Her high heels turned out to be a pain.
"They hurt," The Descendants star told me on the carpet. "They're like two sizes too big. I stuffed toilet paper in them but they hurt.
"But I have flats," she continued. "They're in a bag with my friend at the end of the [press] line."
Despite her day getting off on the wrong foot, I am happy to report that Woodley not only won the Spirit for Best Supporting Female, but she was wearing her black flats when she hit the stage to accept the award.
This isn't Woodley's first footwear faux pas. She caught some flack when she slipped into five-toed running shoes for a Golden Globes afterparty.
