It's only been a few days since Oscars 2011, but could Hugh Jackman already be making a play to return as next year's host?

While Jackman says he enjoyed being a presenter this time around because it's "easier and less pressure," he tells me...

He got a bit nostalgic when he hit the Kodak.

"I did have a great, great time hosting," he says. "When I came [to the Kodak] for rehearsals this year, there was a little tug. I was like, 'I wouldn't mind doing this again.' "

Shortly after critics trashed this year's show, reports surfaced that Jackman and Billy Crystal were both itchin' for the job again.

Jackman admits he was a bit surprised at how calm Anne Hathaway was about cohosting. "I saw her at the rehearsals and she even said, 'I feel relaxed—is that weird?' " he smiled. "I said, 'Yeah, that's weird.' "

Did he remind her that she was going to be watched by a billion or so people?

"I didn't add that," Jackman laughed. "But I remember the stage manager, literally as I went on, saying, 'Good luck man, you got a billion people out there.' "

For now, Jackman is gearing up for the next Wolverine flick. Director Darren Aronosky has asked him to put on 30 pounds of muscle. His daily diet includes about 6,000 calories a day, plus, he said, "pushing as hard as you can and lifting heavy weights."

Shirtless Oscar host, anyone?
