Man Gunned Down Outside Rick Ross' Miami Pad; Rapper Sought for Questioning

Hip-hopster's house becomes the focus of a crime scene as police investigate a murder there

It sounds like something out of Scarface.

Authorities in South Florida are investigating the shooting death of a man outside a working-class Miami Gardens home owned by rapper Rick Ross.

As he was not there at the time of the shooting, the Teflon Don is not considered a suspect. So what do police want with him then?

According to the Miami Herald, Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, is being sought for routine questioning as part of a probe into the murder.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired around 7 a.m. and found the body of the victim, identified as 39-year-old Gregory Paul Nesbitt, in the front yard.

"The home according to property appraiser records is owned by Mr. Rick Ross. Mr. Ross is not a suspect in this case," Sgt. Bill Bamford, spokesman for the Miami Gardens Police Department, confirmed to E! News.

Ross does not live at the property, though he grew up nearby. Instead, he purportedly uses the house as a recording studio and lets friends come and go from time to time.

So far, investigators have no suspects or a motive. But Nesbitt was no stranger to the law himself; his rap sheet dates back to the early '90s, with charges ranging from armed robbery to disorderly conduct and marijuana possession. In 1994, he was also convicted of grand theft auto.

A rep for Ross could not be reached for comment.
