At this rate, Lindsay Lohan will eventually channel all of Hollywood's legendary female screen icons.

The troubled actress, who recently struck a pose reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe in the pages of Playboy, may soon portray the late, great Elizabeth Taylor.

E! News has confirmed initial reports by Deadline that Lohan is in early talks to star as the beloved Oscar winner in the TV movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story for Lifetime.

"I have been and am in conversations with Lindsay Lohan and her representatives as well as other actresses and their respective agents regarding playing the role of Hollywood's Royalty, Elizabeth Taylor," Larry Thompson, the film's executive producer, told us.

The two-hour project, which is currently in development, would, as the title suggests, revolve around Taylor's tumultuous, highly publicized relationship with Richard Burton. The script was written by Christopher Monger, who penned the screenplays for The Englshman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain and, more recently, the HBO film Temple Grandin starring Claire Danes.

When approached by E! News, a rep for Lohan simply stated:  "We are not going to comment on hearsay."

Of course, such a gig could very well be what the 25-year-old needs to boost a career that has seen better days.

So what do you think? Is Lohan the perfect choice to play Taylor? If not, then who is? Sound off in the comments!
