So what are celebs saying about the downfall of the dictator?
Plenty.
Comedians had much to say on the topic. E!'s own Joel McHale and Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers tweeted their own jokes about Gadhafi's death.
"Gadhafi Caught! Is there nothing Boba Fett can't do!" wrote McHale, referencing the Star Wars bounty hunter (as if you didn't know that).
"And he was so close to making general #gadhaffi," cracked Seth Meyers.
Roastmaster Jeff Ross, who previously dressed up in a colorful uniform to resemble the dictator for the Charlie Sheen roast, weighed in with a joke.
"Moammar Gaddhafi is dead. He's survived by his brothers Larry Gadhafi and Curly Gadhafi," he wrote.
Steve Martin nearly topped that with the understated: "Lunch with Gadhafi, cancelled."
Barbara Walters posted a 1989 interview she did with the dictator.
"Take a look at my 1989 Interview With Moammar Gadhafi, who was killed today by insurgents. Very revealing!" she wrote.
After Holly Robinson Peete posted several times about the news, including the following:
"Wow Gadhafi was in power for 42 years??? Talk about no term limits! #alongasstime"
Wilmer Valderrama got in on the action, expressing his affection for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was caught on tape exclaiming "Wow" upon learning the news.
"US. S of State Hillary Clinton's a G! (GANGSTA), Love Hillary! RT Candid reaction 2 report of Gadhafi's death @CBSNews," he wrote.
Piers Morgan also took to his Twitter page to post a link to Hillary's reaction, saying: "Ever wonder how a Secretary of State would react to news of #Gadhafi being caught? Here you go..."
He added that the now-dead Libyan dictator had ruled the country since Morgan was four years old.
"he's the Queen Victoria of despots," he joked.
