Justin Bieber will surely be hugging his grandparents a little bit tighter the next time he sees them.

That's because his mom's folks, Bruce and Diane Dale, were in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon that left the teen sensation's grandfather with broken ribs.

Const. Kees Wijnands, media relations for the Ontario Provincial Police in Perth County, confirms the crash to E! News.

According to Wijnands, Bieber's grandparents were driving about 90 minutes outside of Toronto when an icy slush buildup on the road pulled the couple's Hyundai Santa Fe into a ditch and rolled the vehicle, which eventually landed back on its wheels.

Bieber's grandfather was taken to Stratford General Hospital, where he was treated for broken ribs and released the same day. The singer's grandmother was unhurt.

Later in the evening, Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, took to Twitter to express her feelings following the incident.

"Count your blessings & forgive ur parents always," she tweeted. "U never know what tomorrow holds!!!"

Later, Mallette added, "Thank u all for your love and prayers. Papa is sore but he's ok! My mom has a broken and swollen finger but she's tough as nails."

No word yet from Bieber himself.
