The former Saturday Night Live star, who made a name for himself with his spot-on impersonations of such famous folks as Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, has filed a lawsuit against the drivers in a recent car crash that left the funnyman injured and unable to work.
Hammond reportedly suffered fractured ribs and an injured back when the car in which he was a passenger was hit by another vehicle in late June.
The comic's lawyer, Melanie Little, filed a lawsuit on her client's behalf in Manhattan yesterday, telling the New York Post that the accident in Sag Harbor, N.Y., has affected Hammond's "ability to perform," adding that "he's in pain and had to cancel many performances. He can't fly and he can't stand up."
The suit is seeking unspecified compensation from not only the driver of the other vehicle but also from Hammond's friend, who was driving the SNL alum's car at the time. The naming of his pal, according to Hammond's lawyer, is said to be simply for "insurance purposes."
