Less than a year ago, Fantasia Barrino was, tragically, thinking about ending her life. Now, she's starting a new one.
The former American Idol winner, who has had her share of personal and professional ups and downs since winning the crown in 2004, is now putting a major tick in the personal ups column, announcing at a concert over the weekend that she's pregnant!
The 27-year-old, who already has a 9-year-old daughter, Zion, whose birthday incidentally is just next week, shared her happy news with fans while performing at the opening of the Riverview Apartments in Jacksonville, Fla.
"You are the first persons that I share this news with," she said from the stage. "And I share this with you because I can relate to you. And for a while I walked around, figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now, I tell you, I don't live my life for folk.
"So this child that I carry," she went on, pausing to nod along with the cheers of the crowd, "God has given me this child and I don't have to hide it from none of y'all."
There's no official word yet from her rep on the pregnancy, including when she's due, the sex of the child or even who the identity of the baby daddy may be.
However, the pregnancy announcement comes in the wake of reports that she has rekindled her romance with Antwaun Cook, the once-married man with whom she was infamously and dramatically involved with last year.
