The downtown club where a notorious brawl allegedly broke out between Chris Brown, Drake and their respective hangers-on had its liquor license pulled Tuesday night by the State Liquor Authority following an emergency meeting that asserted a zero tolerance for "violent bars."
The New York Daily News reports that the agency met to address public-safety issues at both W.i.P. and its sister club, Greenhouse, which have reportedly been the site of several violent incidents over the last few months that culminated in Brown and Drake's infamous dustup on June 14.
"The SLA will not tolerate violent bars that break the law," chairman Dennis Rosen reportedly said.
W.i.P., which was shuttered after the bottle-smashing incident left several bystanders injured including baller Tony Parker, had reportedly scheduled several parties this week for high-profile guests like R. Kelly and the cast of Oliver Stone's Savages, which stars Blake Lively and John Travolta.
The club's owners, meanwhile, have sued New York City for breach of contract following the shutdown.
In court papers filed last week, the club claims that it's hemorrhaging $264,000 a week in lost earnings and is unable to provide adequate employment to its staff.
The liquor-license suspension is just the latest blow to the club, which is facing a battery of legal claims including a whopping $20 million lawsuit from Parker, who reportedly suffered a serious eye injury that may jeopardize his chances of competing in the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
