Now Brooke Mueller is really showing that she has her children's best interests at heart.

Not long after choosing to undergo outpatient treatment for substance abuse, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife has thought better of it and checked herself into a rehab facility.

Score one for the media?!

"After further reflection and consideration, Brooke has decided to remove herself from the media spotlight and has entered a long-term inpatient treatment center where she can focus on her recovery without distraction," Mueller's rep, Steve Honig, said in a statement to E! News.

"She has already arrived at the facility and, out of respect for her privacy, no further information will be released about her treatment. Brooke's goal is to maintain her sobriety and she believes this is the best option to reach that goal."

Well, we're behind whatever gets a healthy mom back home to her kids as soon as possible. Mueller was arrested earlier this month for alleged cocaine possession and third-degree assault after a dustup while she was out on the town in Aspen. Police are still investigating what exactly went down.

And what happens to her and Sheen's twins, Bob and Max, who will be 3 in March?

"Brooke will retain custody of the children, who will remain in their home and familiar surroundings and be under the care of their longtime nanny," Honig says. "Charlie and Brooke's parents fully support her decision and everyone recognizes the importance of maintaining the children's normal routine."

We'll get back to you when we figure out what "normal" means to the Sheen household.
