CBSWell, on the bright side, Big Brother 9 winner Adam Jasinski is already pretty used to being locked in a big house with a bunch of strangers, having his behavior monitored and otherwise living under constant surveillance. Now he gets to do it while wearing a kicky jumpsuit.
The former reality star was sentenced to four years in prison by a federal judge in Boston today after pleading guilty to both possession with attempt to distribute oxycodone and failure to file a tax return in 2008, the same year he won the show.
Which begs the question, did he learn nothing from Richard Hatch?
Actually, he did. He learned enough to actually cop to his misdeeds, and there's always something to be said for accountability—even if it took him a few months and a change of plea to get there.
The sentencing went down in Massachusetts federal court, and is a result of Jasinski's October 2009 bust, in which he was caught trying to sell 2,000 oxycodone pills to someone who just so happened to be an undercover witness working with the government. Oops.
Along for the bust was fellow Big Brother contestant Matthew McDonald, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to conspiracy to distribute oxycodone.
As for Jasinski, while four years in prison is substantial, it's nothing compared to what he could have received, as he was facing a maximum of 20 years behind bars for his actions. Perhaps the judge was feeling a little sympathy, however: prior to entering his plea, he told the court he was currently being treated for both a drug addiction and bipolar disorder.
We'd say he's got plenty of time to deal with that now.
