Melissa Etheridge Shuts Down Ex's Money Move

Judge rules hitmaker won't have to shell out more to estranged partner Tammy Lynn Michaels

If you ask Melissa Etheridge, she's the only one paying her estranged partner's bills.

So it's not much of a surprise a Los Angeles judge has snubbed Tammy Lynn Michaels' bid to force the singer to fork over $25,000 to her and another $25,000 to her lawyers.

"Their ex-parte request was denied," Etheridge attorney Neal Hersh tells E! News.

The legal eagle said the request was unfounded considering the two-time Grammy winner is already covering all of her ex's bills.

"All of her living expenses are being paid by Melissa in total," Hersh added. "Everything...her rent, her car, her gas, her electricity, everything."

Michaels' lawyer, Steven Knowles, had claimed his client was essentially "destitute" and struggling to provide food and clothing for the couple's 3-year-old twins, Johnnie and Miller.

But the court felt otherwise.

Meanwhile, Etheridge's camp is rejecting Michaels' play for full custody of the kids. Michaels had claimed Etheridge's touring schedule made shared custody unworkable.

"Full custody with Tammy is not acceptable," said Hersh. "[Melissa] is going to petition for sharing of custody. I think the sharing of custody is the best way to do it."

The attorney admitted Etheridge, 49, and Michaels, 35, have been having a hard time ironing out visiting arrangements.

"Melissa is on the road," said Hersh. "She was supposed to see the children in Boston and Tammy didn't show up. So it's not a great situation."

Let's hope the adults act like adults and work things out, for the kids' sake.
