"I'm surprised," the designer says of the duo's split. "She always spoke very highly of her husband…I thought that was a marriage that was going to last forever."

Heidi Klum knows how to keep her game face on.

So when the supermodel and hubby Seal announced their split last month, it came as quite a shock to the unknowing public. But even those who worked closely with Heidi were blindsided by the breakup.

Project Runway season six winner Irina Shabayeva told E! News Monday that from what she knew of Heidi and Seal, their union seemed like "a marriage that would last forever and ever."

So why did she think this, aside from the lovey-dovey pictures we all saw of the pair throughout their seven-year-marriage?

"[Heidi] always spoke very highly of her husband," Irina said during a showing of her Fall 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week. "She always seemed so happy with him and outgoing. It's definitely a shock."

Heidi and Seal's split has been amicable so far, and both have continued to wear their wedding rings. Seal even told Ellen DeGeneres post-split that Heidi was "the most wonderful woman in the world" and she'd given him "four beautiful gifts: four beautiful children." (Seal adopted Heidi's daughter Leni, 7, from a previous relationship, and the two are also parents to Henry, 6, Johan, 4, and Lou, 2.)

Although Seal told Piers Morgan "there is nothing to reconcile. We haven't fallen out," Irina hasn't given up hope on the duo reverting to the married couple we know and love. "Who knows? They might fix things," she said. "It happens."
