A rep for the "I Don't Want to Be" singer tells E! News that DeGraw is currently recovering and in stable condition at New York City's Bellevue Hospital, where he was taken late Sunday night by ambulance after he was attacked by a group of assailants.
So how bad are his injuries?
According to his camp, DeGraw suffered a concussion, broken nose, black eyes and cuts and bruises in the beatdown, which detectives are continuing to probe.
"Gavin and his family appreciate everyone's concern at this time," said his publicist.
As a result of his injuries, McGraw won't be performing in Wantagh, New York on Aug. 12 and Mansfield, Massachusetts on Aug. 13 as the opening act for Maroon 5 and Train. No word also when he might be ready to resume promotional duties for his new album, Sweeter.
Meanwhile, more details of the alleged altercation are beginning to surface.
The incident occurred in the East Village five blocks from the National Underground, a bar DeGraw coowns with his brother, Joey. But it's unclear whether the crooner, who was reported to be intoxicated at the time, had been drinking there. A spokesman for the watering hole was unavailable for comment and a voice mailbox was full.
According to the New York Daily News, DeGraw had been hanging out with friends at an unidentified East Village restaurant. After leaving, he was jumped by a group of men on First Avenue between 5th and 6th streets. He managed to stumble up to Third Avenue and 19th Street, where he was then hit by a cab but not seriously injured.
At that point, an ambulance was called and he was transported to Bellevue, where he subsequently reported the brawl to authorities. NYPD has since confirmed the cab incident.
