After alerting her legion of fans that her nephew, model Miles Hurley, had been repeatedly stabbed in London on March 8, Elizabeth Hurley is letting fans know that despite his "shocking" injuries, he is "slowly recovering."
The model and actress posted a photo of herself with a dove and thanked fans for their well wishes during such a stressful time.
"Thank you to all who sent such kind messages following the news that my nephew @mileshurley1 was viciously stabbed last week," wrote the 52-year-old Brit.
She continued, "His wound is shocking, he remains in great pain and he can hardly move, but he is slowly recovering."
The star also made sure to commend her sister for nursing the 21-year-old.
"My sister is an amazing mother and is looking after him and his friend- who was also stabbed," wrote Hurley, who added that she'd just arrived in India but was in constant communication with her family.
The Royals actress was also clear on the need to stop the violence: "We need to make our streets safer and I want to be part of the movement to achieve that. I hope you will join me."
Earlier in the week, the first photo of Miles post-attack surfaced, showing the model looking in good spirits despite the stabbing the previous week.
In the photo, posted by friend @bazyfish, the 21-year-old was photographed in a robe and next to a rapper known as Romz, who is believed to be the other stabbing victim.
The photo was captioned, "MY SURVIVORS. Grateful."
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Ascalon Street in South London the evening of Mar. 8 following reports of a stabbing. The London Ambulance Service was also called.
The two victims were found with stab wounds and taken to a South London hospital for treatment. They have both been discharged.
According to the authorities, the victims had been driving a beige Fiat 500 on Wandsworth Road when they became involved in a "verbal altercation" with men in another vehicle following a "minor collision."
Police said the men chased the victims "at high speed" and that the victims pulled over on Ascalon Road. Both the victims and the attackers got out of their vehicles, and the attackers stabbed the victims before driving off.
"This was a violent and unnecessary attack," Detective Constable Simon Monga from Wandsworth CID said. "A minor traffic collision has resulted in two men being stabbed. It is only by sheer luck that their injuries were not more serious."
Monga then asked any witnesses to come forward.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the initial incident and witnessed the altercation to contact police," he said. "If you have any information about the stabbing and the identify of the suspects, please call police without delay. It is vitally important that we trace these people."
No arrests have been made.
Police described the driver of the suspected vehicle as "white or mixed race, aged in his early to mid-20s, 6 feet tall, of large build and with a shaved head and stubble." They also say the driver was wearing a navy blue tracksuit. The police also described the other passengers in the vehicle as "young black men."
The authorities described the car of the attackers as "a black hatchback with blacked out windows."
The actress tweeted a photo of the alleged vehicle along with the police information.
"Finally, some information on the knifemen who stabbed my nephew last week," she wrote. "Please RT. Thank you."
She also tweeted a picture of the stab wounds.
"This is what the knifemen did to my nephew's back," she wrote. "If you think you know who they are, please call 0203 276 2603, ref 7495/8March. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously: 0800 555 111. Please RT."
Two days after the attack, the 52-year-old Royals star tweeted, "My 21 year old nephew was repeatedly stabbed in a brutal attack in London on Thursday night."
The distraught aunt continued, "The police & hospital are being fantastic. Thank you for all your messages. It is an appalling time for him & our family. The police will be appealing for witnesses."
Elizabeth is close with her nephew who has already found huge success in the modeling industry.
Miles has modeled for designers like Robert Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana.
