90-Year-Old Prince Philip In "Good Spirits" After Emergency Surgery

Duke of Edinburgh doing well after undergoing operations for blocked coronary artery

Queen Elizabeth's hubby, Prince Philip, is coming out on top after undergoing an emergency surgery for a blocked coronary artery Friday.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, was initially hospitalized at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge for "precautionary tests" but later underwent coronary stenting. He's reportedly doing well and is in "good spirits." 

Although Philip won't be able to join Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry and other members of the English royal family at their traditional Christmas retreat, Sandringham in Norfolk, the Queen and their children Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Edward brought some holiday cheer to the duke by visiting him in the hospital Saturday morning.

The duke is understandably "eager to leave," but is not expected to join the family for the holiday.

Despite Philip's absence, Buckingham Palace spokeswoman Ailsa Anderson says: "Sunday's church service is going ahead as planned and we don't anticipate changes to the Royal Family's Christmas celebrations."
