The Buckeye State gets a taste of buck-wild sexuality in this ribald yet dour comedy starring Parker Posey, Paul Rudd and The O.C.'s Mischa Barton. Posey and Rudd are entertaining enough as a disintegrating couple whose searches for intimate bliss lead them astray (she with an assortment of partners both mechanical and human, he with one of his high school students).
This turns out to be more of a problem for the film than for them, as their divergent stories put them in essentially different movies, neither of which is that engrossing. The OH In Ohio deserves credit for bringing up some sexual-experimentation taboos, but since the film never does more than nimbly skirt them rather than challenge them head-on, the proceedings are ho-hum. They could have been both challenging and funny. The first-rate cast and interesting premise might make you think, Oh, yes, but on the way out, you'll be saying, Oh, no.
