The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Gilmore Girls

The Girls are almost back, we're just a couple days away from finally finding out those final four words.

Jimmy Fallon, a recent Gilmore convert, is just as obsessed with Amy Sherman-Palladino's original ending for Gilmore Girls as the rest of us are, and he saw a big opportunity to try and get scoop when Scott Patterson, Liza Weil, and Sean Gunn paid a visit to The Tonight Show

Patterson admitted that he was the only one who knew what they were, but he could only tell us what the four words are definitely not. "My idea to Amy was, 'Drop the gun, Kirk,' and she rejected it," he told Fallon, but then explained that they aren't just any words. "It's more philosophical," he said.

Patterson also brought up one of Jimmy's own ideas, that Stars Hollow never actually existed and that the show will pull a St. Elmo's Fire by revealing that it all took place in a magical snow globe.

Hopefully, that's not the case, and Stars Hollow is not only real within the show, but also exists as a place we can all move to, where coffee flows freely at all hours of the day and you can eat only Pop Tarts and pizza rolls without ever gaining an ounce. We can dream, can't we?

Fallon also brought up his late arrival to the season, but the cast gave him their blessing for being late to the party. "Fans sort of see it as a religion. It's not just a show to them and you've got the fever now," Patterson said.

"It's comfort food...I look forward to it every night. I don't want it to end," Fallon said.

Weil called the fan reaction to the show "bonkers" and admitted it was "bizarre to go back."

"It feels like the show is more popular now than it ever was, even when it was on the air. To hear fans are so excited for it, for a show that we started doing 15 years ago, it's crazy," Gunn said. Click play on the video above to hear more from Gunn about his surprising Gilmore Girls history.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life finally arrives on Netflix this Friday at midnight.
