Perrie Edwards Has More Stories About Zayn Malik That Are Too "Personal" to Share

Little Mix member addresses their split

Perrie Edwards is never going to tell the whole truth about what happened between her and Zayn Malik.

Although the Little Mix songstress has been candid about some aspects of her relationship with the former One Direction singer, Perrie told The Jonathan Ross Show that she won't open up completely.

"For a normal girl to go through something like that it's hard. I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it]," she said. "Obviously I didn't say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn't going to not mention it."

As for why they split, however, Perrie remained mum. "You're in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal," she added.

The "Shout Out to My Ex" singer detailed her split from Zayn in Little Mix's new book Our World and wrote that he called off their engagement with a text message. "It was horrible, the worst time of my life. A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me."

Fortunately, she had her band mates, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, to get her through. "The girls were amazing. We'd have sleepovers and they'd get my favorite desserts and do everything could to cheer me up," she wrote.

She also turned to her family when she found herself continuing to struggle. "I surrounded myself with friends and family...I didn't want to be alone because when I was I'd start to think about things and get upset. It should have been a really happy time—my career was successful, 'Black Magic' was doing well, and we were traveling and performing. On the surface I was happy, but inside I felt broken."
