It's a question celeb hairstylist Sarah Potempa, has been asked time and time again and it's part of the reason she invented the genius Beachwaver S1.25 Curling Iron, which basically curls your hair all by itself. Any you know it works because the pro was just in Paris, backstage at the Victoria's Secret show, using the very same too the tool to create goddess-like waves on the likes of Cindy Bruna, Kendall Jenner, Gigi HadidBella Hadid and other angels.

To start, make sure you have clean, dry hair. If you want to add a little texture, spray a dry shampoo, like PSSSST! Instant Dry Shampoo Spray, at the roots before you begin. "If you guys love Victoria's Secret waves, it's not a really bouncy curl at the bottom. Leave an inch to two inches out at the bottom—that's what gives you that lived-in sexy wave that feels relaxed," advised the celeb stylist.

To finish the look, the pro has a trick: Spray your brush with hairspray and then brush it through. "It evenly distributes the hairspray so that it's more touchable," she shared. Just make sure you pick a hairspray, like Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity Hairspray, that has a flexible hold. That way the final style won't look or feel crunchy.

But you're not done yet. To bump up your hairstyle for the holidays, add in a unique braid to give it some personality. Pro tip: Just be sure to spray more dry shampoo at the roots for added grip before you braid.

Not sure how to do a braid yourself? Sarah, who also happens to be a braid master, has a few surprisingly doable options. For the full breakdown on how to do a snake braid and a half-up topknot version, watch the video above!
