There was a recent time when Kelly Ripa, by her own admission, wasn't her usual smiley self.

It wasn't because the Live! With Kelly host was unhappy, though—as Kelly revealed on Wednesday's show, her perpetually unhappy mug was the result of some "bad Botox!"

"I'm going to tell you a story I've never told anyone," Kelly told Megyn Kelly, her co-host for the day. "I got bad Botox about...what was it, a year ago? And it was bad."

"It did something to my good side, so then I had two bad sides," added the 46-year-old former soap star. "I'm not kidding!"

Kelly, who's copped to getting Botox before, didn't want to go too far into detail about her "bad Botox" experience.

The Live! With Kelly host said she's "starting to look myself again," but told Megyn, "...there was about a six-month period where people were like, 'What's wrong with Kelly? She doesn't smile anymore.' And I was like, 'I am smiling!'"

Ironically enough, Kelly's worries about having a resting bitch face were what led her to get Botox in the first place. During an episode of Live! last year, Kelly and former co-host Michael Strahan had a candid conversation about the subject.

"They are saying that women are going to seek plastic surgery to have their resting b-faces corrected," said Kelly (who yes, censored the B-word for morning TV). "I say don't be such a B and maybe you won't have an RBF. Am I wrong or am I right?"

Michael chimed in, saying, "Some people always have the face where you have to say 'What's wrong? Are you ok?'"

Then came Kelly's candid answer" "That's why I got Botox!" she exclaimed. "I got Botox here [pointing to her forehead] because people kept saying ‘Are you OK' and I'm like ‘I'm fine why?' 'You look like you're angry.' I was like, 'Then it's time to get Botox.'"

"Now even when I am angry, people don't know," she continued before joking, "I've been yelling at [executive producer Michael] Gelman for three week...Now I just look happy all the time."

Injectables and emotions are a tricky combination!
