Watch: Could "Big Bang Theory" Go More Than 10 Seasons?

Attention Big Bang Theory fans: You could soon have twice the BBT in your lives on a weekly basis, because CBS is reportedly working on a spinoff series centered around one character in particular.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is developing a spinoff about the life of young Sheldon Cooper. The new show would reportedly focus on a teenage version of the genius theoretical physicist and comes from Big Bang co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady along with showrunner Steve Molaro, though none of the current BBT cast is involved, according to THR.

CBS had no comment on the potential new series.

THR's insider reports that the prequel would be single-cam (as opposed to BBT's multi-cam format), and Malcolm in the Middle-esque in tone.

As you'll recall from BBT lore, Sheldon (played by Emmy winner Jim Parsons) was a child prodigy who graduated from college summa cum laude as a teen, and then went on to earn his doctorate (and plenty of other degrees).

As for The Big Bang Theory itself, CBS boss Glenn Geller told reporters this summer that not only does he intend to keep BBT on the air for as long as possible, there's no end in sight.

"We are very confident that everyone involved wants more Big Bang past year 10 and I know Warner Bros. will make those deals," he told reporters in August, later adding, "We'll put it on for as long as everyone wants Big Bang on the air. I hope it lasts forever."

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
