The actress and her husband Carlos PenaVega welcomed their first child—a healthy baby boy—into the world. Ocean King PenaVega was born on Wednesday, E! News has learned.
Unlike many Hollywood couples, the former Dancing With the Stars contestants decided to surprise fans early on in their journey to parenthood by announcing the sex and name of their baby in the summer.
After enjoying a babymoon on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas cruise, the couple shared the big news on social media.
"Ocean King PenaVega," Alexa wrote on Instagram. "We can't wait to meet this little Blessing. #BabyPenaVega #LilMan"
Carlos added, "OCEAN KING PENAVEGA #babypenavega #daddyslittleboy."
For those curious about the name choice, Alexa later explained the biblical meaning in a separate post. "God called the dry ground ‘land' and the water the ‘seas.' And God saw that it was good," she shared. "That is why we went with Ocean. And he is a son of the one true ‘King.'"
In the final weeks before baby Ocean's arrival, the couple was more than busy preparing for their child. Whether setting up their Christmas tree or visiting the ABC Kids Expo, these parents were thinking things through and planning things ahead of time.
"This woman is so strong and so determined," Carlos recently gushed about his wife. "She's tough but centered with love. You are going to be the best mommy for our little man :)"
