Ellen DeGeneres played a pivotal role in Adam Levine's life.
Thanks to the comedienne, he came up with a name for his six-week-old daughter, Dusty Rose Levine. "He sends me pictures of her. She is adorable," Ellen revealed on her eponymous talk show Thursday. "If a day goes by, I'm like, 'Where is the baby? I'm jonesing for a baby picture.'"
Deciding what to call his firstborn child wasn't an easy task. "We had a name that we won't mention on television. The name game is tough game. It's a very hard, arduous [game]. Imagine you're writing the best song you've ever written in your life and you have to name it," the Maroon 5 frontman said. "It's really screwed up to actually have to put yourself through that."
As soon as Adam thought he had the perfect name, he recalled, "I texted Ellen and I was like, 'What do you think?' She was like, 'I hate it. I think it's a terrible name. I was like, 'Cool.' She gave me like five names to think about: This, this, this, this, Dusty. You basically named my kid."
Ellen joked, "I did name your kid!"
Behati Prinsloo wasn't always so keen on it, though. "I ran it by my wife and she's like, 'Mm, I don't like it,'" Adam admitted. So, he did what he had to do: "I brought it back to her in the eleventh hour," he told the talk show host. "I'm like 'Dusty's pretty cool!' She's like, 'I love it!'"
Ellen added that rose is "a beautiful color as well...I'd already thought of Dusty, and then somebody said 'Dusty Rose,' and I said, 'Oh, that's her name.' And so I texted you, 'Dusty Rose.'"
"If anyone needs to name their child," the Voice mentor said, "Ellen's really good at it."
