Thigh-high boots are the boot of the season. They're now a known staple (thanks to the likes of Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Olivia Culpo and so many others who've been wearing them non-stop), but we're starting to see a new breed arise—velvet ones.
It started with Kourtney Kardashian's amazing $995 midnight blue Aquazzura pair that she wore with a single oversized band tee, Chrissy Teigen (seen below) picked out similar $1,150 Baroque embossed boots and wore them with a copper slip dress then model Chanel Iman (also seen below) wore her $895 wine-colored Aquazzuras with a matching black velvet mini.
Clearly, this hybrid footwear trend is so much more versatile than you'd think.
Before you go and get yourself a pair, there are definitely some things to know.
For starters, you don't have to show skin like the rest of 'em. Pull your thigh-highs over a pair of skinny jeans and you've just elevated a perfectly casual look into something a little more fashion-forward.
Secondly, since winter's just around the corner, adding a coat is always a good idea. The longer the jacket, the better for a sophisticated, office-ready look.
Speaking of office-appropriate, pair your boots with a flowing midi skirt that overlaps the hem of your footwear. That way, you can still have fun with your wardrobe while being a little more covered up!
And lastly, try not to wear them in snow or any other wet weather. It'll ruin the velvet (and crush your soul because you spent good money on those puppies).
