The President of the United States gamely read "Mean Tweets" from social media users across the country—including one from Donald Trump. Obama kept a straight face as he read Trump's tweet saying he "will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!" Without missing a beat, the current POTUS fired back at his wannabe successor. "Well, @realdonaldtrump," said Obama, "at least I will go down as president." He followed that zinger with a dramatic iPhone drop. (See what we mean about Obama not needing a mic?)
This obviously was not Mr. Obama's first mic drop moment.
At his final White House Correspondents' Dinner back in April, Obama poked fun at the press as well as at himself. He neared the end his speech by delivering a heartfelt thanks to the journalists present. "And with that," he concluded, "I just have two more word to say: Obama out."
It was in this moment that the POTUS brought both fingers to his mouth, waved farewell to the audience, and quite ceremoniously dropped his mic. Boom.
And let's not forget about the other time Obama literally did a double mic-drop after slow-jamming with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.
The commander-in-chief isn't even the only one in the family who can drop a mic. Last year, FLOTUS Michelle Obama addressed a group of women and young girls at Glamour's "The Power of an Educated Girl" panel in D.C.
"There is no boy at this age that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting your education," she told the crowd. "If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute when I was your age, I wouldn't be married to the president of the United States today."
That comment, not surprisingly,earned uproarious applause from the crowd and a fist bump from fellow panelist Charlize Theron. In response, Mrs. Obama motioned and then mouthed, "Drop the mic."
Yas, yas, yas! And for all these mic drop moments, what we really should all say is thanks, Obamas!
