Hayden Panettiere's dad may not be a hero, but at least he can take the fall.

In a Beverly Hills courtroom on Tuesday, Alan Panettiere pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly hitting wife Lesley following a party in August.

According to the D.A.'s office, Papa P received two years of probation and must pay $520 in fines. He'll also have 30 days to enroll in a yearlong domestic violence treatment program and attend counseling sessions.

The court also issued a protective order requiring that Panettiere not "use force or violence...annoy, harass or molest any person or witness involved in this case, especially Lesley Panettiere or injure her property."

Alan Panettiere is set to return to court on July 30 for a progress report.
