Before there could be a wedding, Ryan Lochte had to properly pop the question.

The Olympic gold medalist did just that Sunday evening when he took his girlfriend, model Kayla Rae Reid, on a private helicopter tour of Los Angeles, his rep told E! News.

After taking in the aerial views, the couple landed in Malibu where the Dancing With the Stars contestant asked 25-year-old Reid to be his wife on a mountaintop overlooking the sunset and ocean.

Helicopter company Orbic Air confirmed to E! News that Lochte purchased the Mountain Top Landing package, which is $349 per person and included champagne, strawberries, cheesecake and those breathtaking views.

The future Mr. and Mrs. took off in a helicopter from Burbank and flew over downtown Los Angeles to Malibu Canyon. During a half hour stop, Lochte asked the fateful question. As the pictures proved, Reid said yes.

"Speechless. Absolutely beautiful," she gushed on Instagram after the proposal. "So in love with YOU."

If the setting was not picture perfect enough, according to his rep, Lochte asked Reid the question of a lifetime with a custom platinum ring with a radiant cut diamond, which she proudly flaunted in photos on her left hand.

Love is all you need. ??

While the 32-year-old is looking forward to making "memories forever," the couple has not yet set a wedding date. Regardless, after facing backlash and ridicule following his scandal during the Rio Olympics, Reid was consistently by his side.

As Lochte recently explained, her loyalty made him realize they are meant to be together after less than a year of dating.

"My family says, 'Don't you think it's a little too soon?' I'm like, 'Can you put a time on love? Can you?'" Lochte told USA TODAY Sports. "When I realized this was 'the one' was when she stuck behind me through this. She still loves me and she's still right there with me."
