This week has been a bad one for celebrities and their relationship with Twitter, with a couple choosing to distance themselves from the social medium. Now Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui is calling it quits. Her decision comes after Internet trolls attacked her for sharing her political views. "Did you know there's a Woman named Dr. Jill Stein yes DOCTOR who is beautifully educated and actually cares about people instead of money?" she tweeted. "Did you also know she's running for president?!" Almost immediately people began to criticize the "Work From Home" songstress for endorsing a third party.
"PS I'm aware a split vote is reality and that it's a bit too late, however I feel like we as a people need to do better as far as educating," she responded.
As her critics continued to call her out for her tweets, Jaurgui, 20, tried to defend herself, ultimately revealing that she supports Hillary Clinton. "I am definitely with Her for the sake of not having Him in the White House, however, my point was to shed light on things purposefully muted," she tweeted.
She also tried to explain that she was merely trying to inform some of her followers about another option, but that didn't sit well with the majority of users following her tweets.
Eventually, Jauregui had enough. The "All in My Head" singer informed her followers that she was done with Twitter. "I'm taking a break from this s--t," she ended her rant. "Y'all can have your fun and make whatever assumptions about my character you want."
Hours later, Jauregui began tweeting again.
The past month has been a tumultuous one for Jauregui as well as for the rest of the group. Just last month Jauregui broke down onstage mid-concert because of "extra emotional" lyrics. Camila Cabello also had to leave mid-concert because of an anxiety attack.
