It's safe to say George Clooney didn't see this Hollywood split coming.

While many pop culture fans woke up to the surprising news that Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, some were left completely out of the loop on the split.

Such was the case for George who was at the United Nations when a CNN reporter approached him to ask about his close friends' new relationship status.

"Alright, don't shoot me on this last question but you're friends with both of them. Any thoughts?" CNN's Richard Roth asked the A-list star. "What's that? What's happened?" George replied.

What came next was the news that his close friends were no longer together.

The confession comes when the actor was at the United Nations attending a roundtable with President Barack Obama on the refugee crisis.

For those still trying to figure out how one of Hollywood's most famous couples called it quits, multiple sources have shed some light into the couple's recent dynamic.
