Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took the world by surprise on Tuesday with news of their divorce.
Though they just recently married in 2014, they've been together since 2004, and after 12 years, they're decided to call it quits. Jolie filed for divorce Monday, according to CNN, citing irreconcilable differences. She is seeking physical custody of their six kids and suggesting Pitt get visitation rights. She did not seek spousal support.
The news shocked everyone for many reasons. Aside from the fact that they share a huge family together and have reigned as one of the most powerful couples in the world, they're also continuously gushing about one another—be it in television interviews, magazines, movie junkets and more.
In fact, in an interview shortly before their marriage, Angelina gushed, "You get together and you're two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy. After all these years, we have history—and when you have history with somebody, you're friends in such a very real, deep way that there's such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together."
