When Fuller House returns for season two on Netflix, D.J. is in store for a blast from her past when she attends her high school reunion and runs into an old boyfriend. Only thing is, the audience might have a hard time recognizing the guy.

Hal Sparks will be stepping into the role of D.J.'s ex-beau Nelson Burkhard, E! News has confirmed. The wealthy and rather obnoxious character was originally played by Jason Marsden on Full House. Despite the change in, you know, face, D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) will come to find that little else about her ex has changed. As he zeroes in on his former flame, he wants to make sure everyone knows he's still as wealthy as ever.

As for why Marsden won't be appearing in the role this time around, the actor explained in a series of videos on Twitter that it was his choice not to step back into Nelson's shoes. "The folks at Netflix, the producers, the casting directors and the writers of Fuller House all tried … to get me on the show," he said. "The decision was ultimately mine and mine alone." TVLine first reported the news.

And Nelson won't be the only returning character with someone new portraying them in the episode, either. As previously reported, mean girl Kathy Santoni will also be spotted at the reunion, pregnant and quick with a snide comment for D.J. and Kimmy (Andrea Barber). However, Anne Marie McEvoy won't be back in the role. The new actress taking her place has yet to be announced.

Fuller House returns for season two on Netflix later this year.
