Gina Rodriguez really is just like all of us.

The Golden Globe winner co-stars alongside Mark Wahlberg in Deepwater Horizon, the Peter Berg-directed drama about the BP oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 that killed 11 people and devastated the environment.

"Are you kidding me?" Rodriguez said when I asked her at the film's Toronto International Film Festival premiere if she was a Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch fan. "Do you know how hard it was to look at him and not think about the Calvin Klein ad?!"

We could only imagine.

"He's incredible," the Jane the Virgin star said. "He's such a loving and ridiculously generous actor and human being."

She also gushed about the rest of the cast, which includes Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and more.

"The content of our movie is bigger than yourself," Rodriguez said. "No egos, no necessity for those moments of vanity or fear or insecurity because it was not about us and the goal was so much more."

Wahlberg feels the same way.

"Obviously, it was huge story but everybody really focused on the environmental disaster," he said. "I think a lot of people didn't realize that 11 people lost their lives and there were a lot of brave men and women who did a lot of things to try to stop the spill. I just thought it was an amazing story that needed to be told and i wanted to to be a part of it and honor the people who lost their lives."

Deepwater Horizon is in theaters on Sept. 30.
