Kerry Washington, you just can't seem to disappoint in the fashion department.

As the Scandal star prepares to welcome her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, pop culture fans were delighted to see the actress step onto the 2016 Emmys red carpet.

Before presenting at tonight's award show, Kerry arrived at the Microsoft Theater wearing a stunning black Brandon Maxwell dress with cutouts. And yes, we also can't get enough of the matching cape that wowed along the red carpet. Fred Leighton jewelry and Gianvito Rossi shoes completed the look.

For those who are unaware, the actress is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role as Anita Hill in HBO's Confirmation. In addition, the film is nominated for Outstanding Television Movie.

Back in April when the project first aired on HBO, Kerry expressed how much the role had an impact on her.

"I didn't expect to process so much of my own experience of gender and how gender has influenced my existence in the world in terms of power," Kerry told E! News at a New York screening. "Yeah, sort of some personal things I'm not really sure I feel comfortable talking about, but yeah, I actually did not expect for her, for playing her, to change me as much as it did."

Tonight's red carpet appearance is a rare one for Kerry who has been staying healthy and preparing for her new arrival in private. While she has made a few talk-show or late-night appearances in the past couple months, her last big red carpet appearance was at the 2016 Met Gala

Watch E!'s live 2016 Emmy Awards red carpet coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, September 18th
