Wisin Reveals That His Newborn Daughter Has a Genetic Disorder

Singer opened up about the difficult moment that his family is facing

Wisin revealed to Puerto Rico's Lo Sé Todo that his newborn daughter Victoria was born with the genetic disorder of trisomy 13. The 37-year-old star said that his wife is suffering from depression because of the entire situation that the family is facing. 

"We're going through a difficult moment," he said to the show. "It's things that happen."

The genetic disorder includes a combination of birth defects, this includes severe intellectual disability, as well as health problems involving nearly every organ system in the body, according to Stanford Children's Health

As soon as the news surfaced, fans and celebrities sent supportive messages to the star. 

Nicky Jam shared words of encouragement with a photo of the artist and a message in Spanish. "Here praying for your baby, who is an angel from God. We have to leave it in his hands because he never fails us. I love you, papa, and I know that God loves you more and that your baby will come out of this." 

Wisin and his family released a statement saying, "As the public now knows, our daughter Victoria was born a couple of days ago. She was diagnosed with trisomy 13 and is in a stable condition. I have always respected and collaborated with the press about every my professional career. But on this occasion, our daughter's health is the most important thing for us," the statement read. "In this respectful manner, we request the space to face this situation in the privacy of our family. We want to take advantage of this moment to thank everyone for the love that we have received. Like any other parent, we ask that you all continue to pray for us so that we can overcome this process and that our daughter will be able to recover soon. God will fulfill his purpose in our Victoria."
