We always look forward to the MTV Video Music Awards, but this year is especially exciting for us as one very, very important person is making her return to the stage...

Britney Spears!!!!

Yes, the Princess of Pop is making her way back to the VMA stage tonight for the first time in nearly a decade, performing her new song with G-Eazy, "Make Me..."

Not only are we excited for her return because she's Britney f--king Spears, but she also represents MTV's pinnacle point in the industry...after all, she was voted the "First Lady of TRL" back in the day!

So, with that being said, we're taking a look back at all of her greatest moments on MTV—from the VMAs to TRL to her many performances and diaries, making the video and more. Check 'em out below:

Revisiting Major MTV VMA Winners' First Show Performances: Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Rihanna and More

First TRL Visit: The teenage pop sensation joined TRL for the first time in 1998 while promoting "Baby One More Time."

First VMA Performance: The Princess of Pop took the stage for the first time with 'NSync in 1999. BritBrit performed "Baby One More Time" before the boys came out and performed "Tearing Up My Heart."

When She Hosted TRL With Melissa Joan Hart: The singer joined one of our favorite childhood actresses, Melissa Joan Hart, and hosted TRL in 1999.

When She Revealed Her Newly Pierced Belly Button: In 2000, BritBrit revealed some new body jewelry, and if this moment alone didn't kick start the belly button piercing phase, we don't know what did.

Her Performance at the 2000 VMAs: No one will forget when little pop princess Britney turned into a sex goddess at the 2000 VMAs, ripping off her tuxedo and getting into a nude, sparkly number for her performance of "Satisfaction" and "Oops! I Did It Again."

"Oops! I Did It Again" on TRL: She came on to perform her hit single for MTV, and it may go down as one of TRL's biggest moments. She looked flawless!

Britney Nailed With Seven MTV VMA Nominations

Total Britney Live: In honor of her "Britney" album release, MTV dedicated an hour long special to the Princess of Pop called Total Britney Live in 2001.

And Justin Timberlake Surprised Her: During her Total Britney Live show, her beau at the time, J.T., came out and surprised her...and we all died a little.

The Diary of Britney Spears: MTV followed Britney for a few days of her summer leading up to the 2001 VMAs, including a period of time in which Justin hung out with her and her family...the cuteness is almost unbearable. At one point, she admitted she hoped to be with J.T. forever!

Her 2001 VMA Performace...With the Snake: Brit killed the VMA stage once again with her performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U" in 2001, hitting every dance move, even with a huge python across her shoulders!

First Lady of TRL: The southern sweetie beat out Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and more for TRL's First Lady Award.

Britney on Punk'd: The singer and Ashton Kutcher decided to turn the tables on the Punk'd crew in 2003.

6 Biggest Video of the Year Upsets in MTV VMA History

Her 2003 VMA Makeout With Madonna: No one will ever forget one of the VMA's biggest jaw-droppers in the history of the show...Yes, we're talking about the moment she kissed Madonna during their performance of "Like a Virgin" with Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot

"Toxic" Making the Video: Brit took us behind-the-scenes of making one of her hit music videos from In the Zone, at the start of her "bad gal" phase in 2004.

Her Last VMA Performance: The last time Britney performed at the VMAs was in 2007 when she hit the stage and lip-synced sang "Gimme More." The moment remains one of her most scrutinized performances to date.

Britney's For the Record: After several years of what many consider her "downfall," the troubled singer decided to open up to MTV about her life and set the record straight, feeling as though the tabloids had portrayed her in the wrong light. The special proved she wasn't the same girl from "Baby One More Time" and opened fans' eyes to how years of constant media attention had affected her.

Her 2011 Vanguard Award: At the 2011 MTV VMAs, the singer was honored with Michael Jackson's Video Vanguard Award, which was presented to her by Lady Gaga.

Presenting the Best Male Video at the 2015 VMAs: BritBrit returned to the VMAs in 2015 to present the award for Best Male Video, looking beautiful in a sparkly mini dress with a high pony tail.

Now, we absolutely cannot wait to see what she has in store for the 2016 MTV VMAs! Stay tuned on E! for all of your Britney updates throughout the night.
