It's hard to believe that it's been more than 12 years since Maggie Wheeler appeared on Friends as the hilarious Janice. But after all this time, fans still can't get enough of the character's signature laugh and expressions.
Lucky for us, the actress "never" gets annoyed at looking back on her memorable scenes.
"I think it was just a progression of how Janice evolved, how the writers created the character for me. The laugh happened for me organically in the first rehearsal because I needed to find a way to laugh because Matthew Perry is so funny and working with him, I thought this guy was going to make me laugh on set," she explained on itv's This Morning. "I've got to be prepared. What am I gonna do? So I created Janice's laugh as a safety measure just in case he made me laugh."
What came next was a character that had to come back season after season.
Whether Janice was running into Chandler on Valentine's Day or having a quick fling with Ross (David Schwimmer), writers and producers wanted to find ways to bring her to the small screen time and time again.
"It was always a surprise that she continued to have a life on the show and I was always so thrilled every time the writers decided to bring me back," she explained. "It started off as a one shot deal, come in and do one episode, and out of that came 10 years of this extraordinary, joyful experience."
As Maggie prepares to participate in Comedy Central's FriendsFest in London, some fans are still hopeful for a reunion. Would Janice like to be involved? Oh my gawd yes!
"A lot of people ask and I'm sure a lot of people would love it and that part is out of my control," she explained. "I don't know what the future holds but it would be fun. It would be great fun."
