When it was time to welcome a baby girl, Blake Lively decided it was also time to say goodbye to a few tasty foods.

Once the actress began filming The Shallows, it was almost eight months after delivering her first child. But somehow, someway, the proud mom managed to get back into incredible shape for the role. So how did she do it? A strict diet certainly helped with the process.

"Well, what we actually did was I did no gluten and no soy," she confessed in a radio interview with the Kylie and Jackie O Show. "It seems like, ‘oh that's really easy to cut that out,' but you realize there's soy in everything. Even if it's the healthy, whole foods, organic stuff, there's always soy in it. Once you remove soy, you realize you're eating no processed foods, so that's basically what I did."

Is it just us or does that sound extremely difficult? According to Blake, it was totally doable and she still was able to savor some of her favorite foods.

"I was still able to have sugar and all of those things. It's all in moderation," she confessed. "You have a balance of protein, carbs and vegetables. And it wasn't the worst. I was eating rice and sushi, but just no soy and no gluten and watch how hard that is."

While every body is different and each mother has their own schedule, Blake says that eight months gave her body "time to heal."

In addition to healthy eating, Blake also worked out with Don Saldino who she admitted was nothing but an "amazing trainer."

"He kicked my butt. It was also eight months after having a baby so my body was already completely different than what it normally was," she shared with E! News' Marc Malkin. "Not just aesthetically but also your muscles are different, your body, everything is just shifted and changed."

Today, the A-list actress is proud of all she was able to accomplish. And yes, she's proof that hard work can pay off.

"I've never been in that good of shape in my whole life. So to do it after having a kid was really nice because you see your body after having a kid and it's beautiful because you just gave birth. But you also are like oh my god, this is not what my body looked like," she shared. "You feel like you're never going to get your body back again."
