Battle of the Pumpkin Spice Lattes: Is Starbucks So Last Year?

It's PSL season already

Can you even believe it's pumpkin spice latte season already? At least McDonald's seems to think so. We kid you not; they are so stoked for the fall, they're releasing their PSL an entire week earlier than Starbucks did last year, Delish notes. In what seems like an effort to knock Starbucks off of its PSL high horse, Mickey D's is rolling out its nectar of the gods for the first time in a whopping three years. Clearly, they mean business. Expect to see it on menus starting on August 31. For the record, Starbucks released theirs on September 8 of last year, so they better watch out. Could there be a new PSL king in town?

The Starbucks version was so popular, the drink had its own flippin' Twitter account. We're unsure if MacDo can even begin to live up to that. Despite last year's September release, the coffee chain rolled out their drink in 2014 on August 26, and again on Labor Day. Does this mean there's a chance they'll secretly drop theirs earlier than the fast food chain? We may never know until that glorious day.

McDonald's is far from the only coffee enthusiast competing in this battle. Peet's Coffee is also getting in on the action, releasing a dark chocolate pumpkin mocha the same day as McDonald's. SHOTS. FIRED. It's hard to say which chain will take the PSL cake this year, but we're willing to bet as long as there are eager fans of the drink, it won't even matter who wins this war.
