To kick off the show's upcoming season, ABC will air a special titled "The View: 20 Years In the Making" with the program's creator Barbara Walters on August 23 at 10 p.m.

"As we prepare for season 20 of The View, we will take a look back at its remarkable history," Walters said in a statement. "In our primetime special, celebrating this event, you will see the legacy of the program. I am very proud of the show that I created almost two decades ago. We hope the viewers will take a little time to enjoy The View."

The View's official casting announcement comes just hours after Goldberg took to Twitter to debunk rumors that she has anything to do with the talk show's hiring or firing policy after a Daily Mail report claimed Faris' appearances were reduced at the Oscar winner's behest.
