Even celebs have bad hair days.

In the case of limp locks, dent sides or even dirty strands, braids are a no-fail solution. In fact, there's an industry trick that will elevate simple braids, twists, knots and plaits to Pinterest-board-worthy status.

"My clients love mixing types of braids and widths of braids," said celeb makeup artist and hairstylist Suzie Kim. "There's no right or wrong way—you just have to play with your hair to see what will add more interest, texture or volume to your look."

It's the ultimate customizable hairstyle and can be just as easy as Nikki Reed's side pony seen here, which starts with a one-inch traditional braid at the root and blends down to a low fishtail.

Don't just stop at two braids, mix and match as you please. The more different types of texture you use, the more intricate it'll look. Oily or fine hair?
