Selena Gomez's birthday cheer appears to be short-lived.
On Saturday, a day after she turned 24 and soon after performing a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia as part of her Revival tour, the pop singer posted a cryptic post on Instagram that signaled she's been dealing with some turmoil, adding she needs to "rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally."
"Tonight I felt extremely unauthentic, unconnected to both...myself and my music," she wrote. "I've never really felt like my materials, wardrobe or a video could define me. I act on a moment and fear something that hasn't happened. I'm stagnant, I stay still and don't just sit with myself first and ask, 'Is this where I am, wholeheartedly?' I've always told the truth. I'm always true to my word, I've shown who I am but I need to rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally. Had to get that out."
She also added, "Not being negative about anything I've done. I'm grateful for every single moment I get here -Indonesia you were LOUD and clearly inspiring. Love you so much."
Gomez had before the show appeared to be in great spirits, goofing around with girlfriends and saying on Snapchat she was "very, very happy and excited" to be in Jakarta.
"Everybody here is super nice," she said.
During her concert, the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to her.

Also during the show, Gomez got cryptic before performing her song "Kill 'Em With Kindness," telling the crowd, "I get stupid sometimes, I say things that I don't mean, or they come out wrong just because I care so badly. But the thing is, at the end of the day, no war anger has ever won, I do know that deep down in my heart I have to believe that we can love each other and always be kind no matter what it takes within us, I believe we can do that."
Gomez had angered several Twitter users earlier this week when she defended friend Taylor Swift after Kim Kardashian shared clips of Kanye West and the singer discussing lyrics for his track "Famous."
Gomez had tweeted, "There are more important things to talk about... Why can't people use their voice for something that f--king matters?" and her comment spurred one person to respond, "Good question! Why haven't you or Taylor not said a thing about #BlackLivesMatter or police brutality?"
Gomez had celebrated her birthday with her opening act, the pop trio Bahari, who shared a sweet video and message for her on Instagram.
Despite her feelings about her professional life, Gomez marked the occasion by sharing on Twitter a teaser audio sample of a new version of "Kill 'Em With Kindness."

She also made a birthday plea.
"I asked all my friends and family to make a donation for my birthday. If you want to, would love you for to join http://www.lupusresearch.org/donations/," she wrote.
Her friend Taylor Swift also shared on her Instagram page a sweet message and a throwback pic of the two.
"I can't imagine my life without you, Selena," she wrote. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
