Love can be quite complicated—especially when you're a celebrity.

Earlier today, sources confirmed to E! News that Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney were broken up and had thus called off their engagement. "They want to keep it private," said an insider. "It's heartbreaking."

And, indeed, it is heartbreaking to plan on saying "I do's" but never actually wed. That said, Gaga and Taylor are far from the first star couple to break off their engagements before the wedding. In fact, here are TK celeb pairs who never made their way down the aisle, either.

When Johnny's estranged wife Amber Heard made abuse allegations against the star earlier this year, Winona spoke to TIME about her personal experience with her former fiancé, saying, "I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said. I mean, he was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves. It's hard because I feel like. That's my experience. And it's been a very long time."
