The world has been shipping Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry since they became royal in-laws, and while it was nice to fantasize about what would happen if the young royal decided to wed the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, we have to put that idea to bed.

Listen, we admire your persistence, but today, Pippa got engaged, and so we must move on. We must move forward without the false hope of one day seeing Pippa and Harry meeting at the altar in yet another lavish royal ceremony.

However, before we say goodbye forever, we can still revisit all the dating rumors that swirled around these two since they legally became family in 2011.

Shortly after the royal wedding five years ago, hearts fluttered with the thought of a new couple alert when Pippa and Harry had spent the afternoon at a London pub, where they shared tea in a seemingly romantic service for two.

However, Harry shut down any thought of him dating his sister-in-law's sibling at the time. "Pippa? Ha!" he told fellow concertgoers right before taking in a set from The Killers, according to Daily Mail. "No, I am not seeing anyone at the moment. I'm 100 percent single.

"I'm working a lot at the moment, so dating and watching TV are the last things I have time for."

That didn't stop people from trying to make Hippa (Parry?) a thing. Just a few months ago, an article claiming the pair were having a "secret romance" had been ruled misleading by the Independent Press Standards Organization (IPSO).

The Daily Star printed the story in December 2015, but Prince Harry complained about it, saying the story was "completely untrue". In Friday's edition, however, an article outlining IPSO's ruling said that the "manner in which the claims were presented was significantly misleading."

The Daily Star's original article cited a U.S. magazine that made claims about a relationship between Pippa and the redheaded royal. It said that Clarence House declined to comment.

The biggest nail in this love coffin came earlier today when E! News confirmed that Pippa is engaged—and it wasn't Harry who put the ring on her finger. The 32-year-old is set to wed her beau James Matthews after a romantic proposal earlier in the summer.

According to the Daily Mail who first broke the news, the engagement occurred during a July weekend in the Lake District and Pippa was "completely and totally surprised." The publication also reports that James asked Pippa's father for permission before getting down on one knee.

"Mike and Carole Middleton are very happy," a friend of the couple revealed. "They like James and they are sure he will make Pippa very happy."

Sorry guys, it's time to mourn the death of this fake relationship.
