With 89.2 million followers, Selena Gomez is the most followed person on Instagram, trumping her BFF Taylor Swift by 4 million and her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber by about 15 million. Not to mention, she's also beat out all the selfie masters in the Kardashian/Jenner family.

So how did SelGo do it? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the singer admits she really didn't do much of anything at all—and that might just be the key to her success.

It seems that simply letting her creativity be free when it comes to posting on social media is why people enjoy seeing her photos and videos so much. There's no bells and whistles...it's really just her.

With that being said, here are 7 tips she suggests for gaining a massive following:

1. Do It Yourself: Selena doesn't have a social media team or digital consultants telling her what she should and shouldn't post. All her photos are shared by her.

2. Don't Think Twice: When it comes to deciding what to share and when, SelGo doesn't think about it. "It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, 'Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it,'" she revealed to THR. "I know it's boring, but that's genuinely what I do."

3. Don't Be Embarrassed of Your Love for the App: There's a reason she's the most followed person on Instagram: she isn't too cool to admit she loves it. "It wasn't my goal to be the most followed person," she said. "It's my favorite app."

4. Captions Aren't Necessary: "I'm not sure there's a method to my madness," she admitted, thought she does follow one rule when it comes to posting: If a caption isn't coming to you, use an emoji and "let it be."

5. Find a Balance: We all love good lighting, filters and FaceTune, but SelGo says you have to find a happy medium between the additives and just being your genuine self. "I try to find a good balance of just being 100 percent myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting."

6. Know a Photographic Moment Can Come Whenever, Wherever: SelGo saw some interesting comments after she shared a photo eating a Popsicle in a Canadian grocery store while stopping to restock the bus. Some people quipped that they "couldn't believe" she "rented out" a grocery store for a photo shoot, when in reality, she just took a cute photo at the right moment.

7. Having a Photographer as a Friend Doesn't Hurt: While the right moment is always good to keep in mind, a photographers make it that much better. That grocery store photo was taken by Selena's photog, who she spends quite a bit of time with.  "I've created this bond with him, so it's super organic when he takes photos," she said.
