Already missing Claire and Jamie?

Outlander ended its second season this weekened with a supersized, super-emotional finale that found Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in 1968, explaining the tale of her ex-husband, Jamie (Sam Heughan), to their daughter, just before discovering that Jamie didn't die in battle after all.

The last line of the season echoed Jack on Lost as Claire realized she would "have to go back," and you can probably guess that yes, season three will find her heading back to the 1700s to track down the love of her life and to find out exactly what has changed in the past 20 years.

However, that's not all we can expect from season three, if Diana Gabaldon's third Outlander novel, Voyager, is to be believed. Here are a few other things we might be seeing when the Starz series returns next year:

Returns: While most of the characters we came to know this season or last season will be with us no longer (RIP most of the highlanders), there will be a few friends and acquaintances who will be back, whether we want them there or not. Just thinking about a couple of those faces is making us angry already...

Culloden Explanations: If you were a tad disappointed with the total lack of battle at the end of this season, have no fear! We will return to Culloden (and to the younger version of Jamie) for long enough to find out exactly what happened during and after Culloden.

More Brianna and Roger: They probably won't be in most episodes, but we will be seeing more of them, which is fantastic news for those of us who quickly fell in love with the pair during the finale.

New Characters: Whether we've actually never met them before or we've only met much younger versions of them, we'll have a whole bunch of new faces to get to know next season.

Exotic Locations: If we told you, you wouldn't believe us.

Big Surprises: We'll just say that a whole lot can happen when a couple is apart for 20 years and leave it at that.

Outlander will return to Starz for season three in 2017.
