The former Live! With Kelly and Michael co-host used to have endorsement deals with brands including Metamucil and Pizza Hut, but now that he's a full-time employee at Good Morning America, almost all of these advertising partnerships are set to end.
An ABC News representative told E! News in a statement: "Michael's endorsements are set to expire in the next few months and won't be renewed. His clothing line [with J.C. Penney] will continue, and he's held to the same disclosure standard as anyone else at ABC News."
The rep added, "If there is a story we're reporting that involves a conflict of interest or a perception of conflict, Michael won't cover it, or it will be disclosed on-air."
So what does this mean for Michael's back account? "When Michael's endorsement deals end he'll definitely be out 7 figures BUT he's making that back with his new contract so he's really not out anything," Ryan Schinman, CEO of RBS Celebrity Booking, tells E! News exclusively. "When he was on Live! with Kelly he was allowed to do these deals but now with working for a news organization it is a perceived conflict of interest. On the brand side, he's such a pleasure to work with and I know many companies are not happy about him not being on their potential hit lists anymore."
Live! didn't have the same standards when it came to endorsement deals, which is why Michael was allowed to partner with certain products under his contract with the show. His former co-host, Kelly Ripa, has benefited from multiple endorsement deals with brands including Colgate and Electrolux.
Michael left Live! in May after over three years co-hosting with Kelly. The former NFL star had an emotional farewell sendoff on-air, but Michael seemed eager to move forward.
"I haven't really missed it," he said in an upcoming episode of the Netflix show Chelsea. "But I loved it. Don't get me wrong. I loved it. When you get a break, sometimes you kind of go, 'Wow, I kind of needed it.' I needed a break."
Multiple guest co-hosts have filled in on Live!, but Kelly has yet to announce who will be Michael's permanent replacement.
