Blake Lively Defends Her Controversial "L.A. Face With an Oakland Booty" Post: "I Was Celebrating My Body"

The Shallows star explains the meaning by her controversial Instagram

Blake Lively likes her Oakland booty and she cannot lie.

It's been more than a month since the actress appeared at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival where she nailed more than a few red carpets.

Ultimately, one fashionable look became front-page headlines when the former Gossip Girl star commented on Instagram. "L.A. face with an Oakland booty," she wrote with a clear view of her beaded gold gown from the front and back.

While she was referencing Sir Mix-A-Lot's hit song "Baby Got Back," some critics didn't find the comment too funny.

On Tuesday, Blake assured fans once and for all that her intentions were never to hurt anyone's feelings. She was simply celebrating her own body.

"It's something I was proud of. I never meant to offend anyone. But Sir Mix-A-Lot, he actually said a very nice thing, he was very defensive and kind, because it's just about celebrating women's bodies, and that's what I was doing," she told Sway on SiriusXM's Shade 45. "I would never want to hurt anyone's feelings or upset anyone."

The actress continued, "I was celebrating my body. It's nice to have a nice curve and not look like you're starving to death."

Tuesday's interview also gave Blake the opportunity to remind fans that what you see on the red carpet isn't exactly realistic for an everyday look. And while the A-list star may look like a million bucks in front of cameras, things are much more normal at home.

"It's also unfair what you see in the media so much. What I look like on a red carpet is not what I look like in real life," she admitted on Sway in the Morning.  "Even in that dress, I'm wearing a great, tiny corset that like someone has synched me in within an inch of my life and it's the most favorable version."

"So when you look at yourself in the mirror at home and you don't look like that, you think ‘well why do those people look like that' but when I go home and take off that dress and look in the mirror, I don't look like that either," she added. "It's fun to dress up and look good on the red carpet but it's not representative [of everyday]."
